A ceremony at Bournemouth Town Hall, confetti outside and a little time by the sea — Ewelina and Kevin’s wedding brought together a town hall celebration and relaxed coastal portraits.
The weather gave us rain and cloudy skies, but we still made time for photographs both at the Town Hall and on the beach. My time with them began with the ceremony, capturing this part of their story through a mixture of documentary wedding photography and gently guided couple portraits.
Wedding Ceremony at Bournemouth Town Hall
The ceremony is always at the heart of the photographs I create. Alongside the exchange of vows and rings, I’m looking for the smaller moments — the glances between a couple, the way they hold hands and the reactions of the people sharing it with them.
For Ewelina and Kevin’s Bournemouth Town Hall wedding ceremony, I followed the moments as they unfolded, giving them space to experience it all. My approach is relaxed and unobtrusive, capturing the people and emotions that make each ceremony personal.
These photographs become more than a record of exchanging vows. They’re a way to remember what it felt like to be there, surrounded by the people who matter to you.
After the ceremony, everyone gathered outside Bournemouth Town Hall for confetti. It’s always one of my favourite moments to photograph: guests ready with handfuls of confetti, the couple stepping outside as newlyweds and everything happening in a few wonderfully unpredictable seconds.
For Ewelina and Kevin, it was a lovely way to celebrate just being married before we took a little time for their couple portraits.
Couple Portraits Inside and Outside Bournemouth Town Hall
Before heading to the coast, we stayed for a short wedding portrait session inside Bournemouth Town Hall and outside its entrance. I love including the place where a couple have just exchanged their vows — it gives the photographs a connection to their day and somewhere they can return to in years to come.
We kept this part simple and relaxed, combining gently guided portraits with the natural moments in between. A little direction with positioning and light can make all the difference, without needing to pose every movement or expression.
Photographing Ewelina and Kevin in both settings brought variety to their Bournemouth Town Hall wedding photographs, while keeping the session short.
Beach Wedding Portraits at Branksome beach
We then headed to the beach for a few photographs by the sea. With rain and cloudy skies, it wasn’t the weather you might picture for a coastal wedding session, but the soft, overcast light worked beautifully for natural portraits.
The sea, sand and muted sky gave this part of their gallery a quieter feel, contrasting with the architecture of Bournemouth Town Hall. We kept the beach session brief, making time for photographs together without turning it into a long shoot.
You don’t need sunshine for beautiful beach wedding photographs. Sometimes the cloudy skies become part of what makes a gallery feel true to the day. For Ewelina and Kevin, the coastline added another setting to their story, capturing a little of Bournemouth alongside their first portraits as a married couple.
